Parents of Invention Ultimate Baby Wrap- BlackGreat for babies and toddlers
Once you learn how to do the different types of wraps you'll use, this is such an easy carrier to use! I love the versatility of it, it has worked well for wearing my 4 month old nephew (sideways like with a sling as well as upright) in the front while babysitting and being able to still move around and get stuff done, as well as being able to wear my 25lb toddler in it in multiple positions (depending on what he wants). I wish I'd had this when my toddler was a baby! The only real con is that it will drag on the ground when you put it on so you have to consider that in your plans. Otherwise, it is very sturdy, comfortable, and easily cleaned. A good product for someone who wants or needs to wear their baby/toddler, it should last for the duration.
My Favorite Carrier
This is by far my favorite carrier. I am a petite woman (5'0"), so I found that most of the traditional carriers do not fit well on my frame. I tried the Ergo and the Snugli carriers, but my baby did not seem to like the structured nature of those carriers. He seems to prefer this wrap, which is stretchy and soft and feels more organic. This wrap has really been a lifesaver for me...my arms were killing me from holding him! He is just shy of 20 lb at 5 months, so I really needed something that would help distribute his weight to my back and shoulders to give my arms a rest. The other thing I love about this wrap is that it's so versatile. Even my husband can use it without having to mess with adjusting a hundred different straps and buckles. Sure, it's not necessarily intuitive to figure out how to wrap it right out of the box, but it definitely is easy to do once you've practiced it a couple times. And I think it also feels secure without being too rigid. One caveat: all babies have their preferences, so I would suggest trying on a variety of slings, wraps, and carriers before buying any one of them. But this is the one that worked best for me and my baby...
Fantastic baby wrap
I purchased this for my daughter in law who is 5'10" tall and might weigh oh 105 lbs soaking wet. She absolutely LOVES it. My granddaughter is 5 months old and Amy says that it spreads her weight out so that there is no pressure on her back even though she has a slight scoliosis. It was easy to use - less than 5 mins - with the dvd instructions and she is eager to teach me how to use it. I would recommend this to anyone wanting a baby carrier or wrap.
LOVE IT!!!!!
I don't know what I would do with out this wrap. A little time consuming when my newborn was screaming to put it on. My baby was only happy if in this wrap, he is happy all day long in the wrap. For this price, you can't beat it. Has a pocket in the front great for putting a nuk in, mail, or cell phone. This is a must for shopping. Forget lugging around the infant carriers, especially when you have other children. Your hands are completely free!! Don't buy those carriers with straps, those are worthless!
It takes a little getting used to
I have had a love/hate relationship with this baby carrier. First off, it is very difficult to get situated on your body. It comes with a video to try and ease the pain but it is still a little complicated to make sure that you have enough slack here and not to much there. The wrap itself is VERY long so you end up having to wrap the excess material around yourself two or three times (and I am not a petite woman). Once I had the sling on me and managed to position my baby it worked pretty well. I have really only used the forward facing method because the nursing position scared me (she was very young and it doesn't seem very sturdy) and she is either too small for the other positions or doesn't want to just stare at my chest. She gets a kick out of having her legs free to move around and still be able to walk with me and see what I am doing. HOWEVER~once she gets fussy and doesn't want to be in the wrap it is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to get her out within one minute (and that minute seems like an eternity when your baby is crying!) The wrap is so long and tucked in by the time it is secure that it takes forever to untuck it and unwind it off my body, and pulling her straight out doesn't work either because her legs can't get past the layers of cloth that hold her in without first loosening the whole thing (thus starting to unravel the mile-long cloth). Overall I would say there is probably a better option out there, but if you have the patience, this wrap is truely customizable to each individual body.
